Criminal defence lawyer. A man with a beard in a black suit and white shirt, leaning against a stone ledge with a brown leather briefcase on top, standing in front of an ornate stone wall.

William Tobias Rylance

B.A. (Hons), J.D.

William originally hails from England, where he served for several years as a Police Officer in London’s Metropolitan Police Service. The majority of this time was spent working as a detective investigating complex crimes.

After immigrating to Canada, and serving briefly with a municipal police service, William then decided to instead pursue a career redressing the injustices he had witnessed in the criminal legal system.

While at law school he assisted defence counsel through several trials and volunteered with The Wrongful Conviction Law Review, a non-profit, peer-reviewed international journal focusing on wrongful convictions and miscarriages of justice.

William has founded his legal practice with a commitment to defending those charged with criminal offences whatever financial means may or may not be available to them. He has seen up close the struggles and stressors that come with such charges and has resolved himself to providing his clients with the most robust defence possible, whether they be rich, poor, or somewhere in-between.
